Metabolic Testing & Sweat Testing
Take your endurance training seriously with more precision, no guesswork. Each person’s physiological capabilities, metabolisms and sweat are highly individual, get to know yours.
Purpose for Performance Testing
Every athlete responds to training differently. Two people can run the same pace, hit the same mileage, and still have completely different physiological demands.
Metabolic and sweat testing help us understand what is happening beneath the surface: how efficiently you use oxygen, where your intensity zones sit, how much fluid and sodium you lose, and what your body needs to sustain effort. This allows us to build a more precise training and fueling strategy for your actual body, not a generic runner profile.
For endurance athletes and recreational runners alike, better data leads to better decisions, less chances of injury, and better recovery.
INSCYD Metabolic Testing
INSCYD metabolic testing gives runners a detailed look at how their body produces, uses, and sustains energy at different intensities.
Instead of relying on generic pace zones or estimated fitness scores, INSCYD helps identify your individual aerobic capacity, anaerobic contribution, threshold pace, fat and carbohydrate use, and training zones.
For endurance athletes, this matters because better training starts with knowing what system needs development. Some athletes need more aerobic efficiency. Others need better threshold durability, improved lactate clearance, or a more precise fueling strategy. Testing gives us the data to make those decisions clearly.
Whether you are preparing for a race or simply trying to run stronger, this test helps turn effort into direction: smarter pacing, more specific workouts, and a clearer understanding of what your body needs to improve.
Now available two ways: in-person at Mohawk/Echo Park, or 100% virtual — run or ride the test on your own equipment, wherever you train.
Sweat Testing
Every athlete loses fluid and sodium at a different rate — and most people are training and racing without ever knowing their own number. We test it directly, and while you're actually working, not sitting in a chair. That's the difference between a guess and real data.
During exercise, your body loses water and sodium in amounts that vary dramatically from person to person — some athletes lose several times more than others in the exact same conditions. Sweat testing measures those losses precisely, giving us a clear picture of what your body actually needs to stay hydrated, hold performance, and avoid unnecessary breakdown when it matters most.
For endurance athletes, this isn't a nice-to-have. Poor hydration strategy shows up as early fatigue, cramping, GI distress, reduced heat tolerance, and performance that falls apart late in a race for no obvious reason. Instead of guessing how much water or sodium you need, we build your plan off your actual sweat profile — no off-the-shelf formula, no one-size-fits-all electrolyte mix.
Whether you're training for a marathon, an ultra, a triathlon, or just trying to feel better and perform better day to day, this gives us data we can use immediately: how much you sweat, how much sodium you lose, and how to replace it with real intention instead of habit.
And it's not just for race day. A hard sauna session pulls sodium out of your system the same way a hard training block does — it's a real heat load, whether you clock it that way or not. Add a sweat test to your regular sauna visit and find out exactly what your heat sessions are asking of your body, so you're refilling with a plan instead of just drinking water and hoping.
You get a number and a plan. Nothing gets sold to you along the way.
