Metabolic Testing & Sweat Testing

Take your endurance training seriously with more precision, no guesswork. Each person’s physiological capabilities, metabolisms and sweat are highly individual, get to know yours.

Purpose for Performance Testing

Every athlete responds to training differently. Two people can run the same pace, hit the same mileage, and still have completely different physiological demands.

Metabolic and sweat testing help us understand what is happening beneath the surface: how efficiently you use oxygen, where your intensity zones sit, how much fluid and sodium you lose, and what your body needs to sustain effort. This allows us to build a more precise training and fueling strategy for your actual body, not a generic runner profile.

For endurance athletes and recreational runners alike, better data leads to better decisions, less chances of injury, and better recovery.

INSCYD Metabolic Testing

INSCYD metabolic testing gives runners a detailed look at how their body produces, uses, and sustains energy at different intensities.

Instead of relying on generic pace zones or estimated fitness scores, INSCYD helps identify your individual aerobic capacity, anaerobic contribution, threshold pace, fat and carbohydrate use, and training zones.

For endurance athletes, this matters because better training starts with knowing what system needs development. Some athletes need more aerobic efficiency. Others need better threshold durability, improved lactate clearance, or a more precise fueling strategy. Testing gives us the data to make those decisions clearly.

Whether you are preparing for a race or simply trying to run stronger, this test helps turn effort into direction: smarter pacing, more specific workouts, and a clearer understanding of what your body needs to improve.

Now available two ways: in-person at Mohawk/Echo Park, or 100% virtual — run or ride the test on your own equipment, wherever you train.

Sweat Testing

Precision Fueling & Hydration sweat testing is the gold standard of sweat testing, it helps runners & endurance athletes understand their individual hydration and electrolyte needs.

During exercise, every athlete loses fluid and sodium at different rates. Sweat testing allows us to measure those losses more precisely, giving us a clearer picture of what your body needs to stay hydrated, maintain performance, and avoid unnecessary breakdown during training or racing.

For endurance athletes, this matters because poor hydration strategy can lead to early fatigue, cramping, GI issues, reduced heat tolerance, and inconsistent performance. Instead of guessing how much water or sodium you need, we use your sweat profile to build a more personalized fueling and hydration plan.

Whether you are preparing for a marathon, ultra, triathlon, or simply trying to perform better & improve health , sweat testing gives us practical data we can use immediately: how much you sweat, how much sodium you lose, and how to replace it more intelligently.

Better data, better decisions, fewer injuries, faster recovery. Shop tests below and get to know your own physiology

INSCYD Metabolic Test (Virtual/Do It Yourself)
$149.00

The same INSCYD metabolic profile — done wherever you train. No studio visit required. Great for athletes outside LA or anyone who’d rather test in their normal training environment, on their own bike, treadmill, or track.

What it consists of:

• The same 4-stage protocol as the in-studio test (two 20-second max efforts, one 3-minute effort, one 6-minute effort), self-administered using your own power meter, GPS running watch, or trainer.

• Clear, step-by-step pacing/power instructions sent before your test so you know exactly what to do and when.

• A 1:1 virtual consultation to review your results — same as the in-studio version.

What you need:‍ ‍

• A bike with power meter, or a GPS running watch/treadmill with pace data.

• A safe stretch of road, track, or trail (or trainer) to complete near-maximal short efforts. What you get

• A full written metabolic profile report: VO2max, VLaMax, lactate threshold, fat/carb utilization, and personalized training zones.

• The same actionable data as the in-studio test — just captured on your own turf.

After checkout: our team will reach out ASAP to get your test scheduled at a time that works for you.

INSCYD Metabolic Testing (In-Person w/ a Coach)
$199.00

A full metabolic profile of your aerobic and anaerobic systems, done at Mohawk or local track or course with a coach guiding you throughout the protocol.

What it consists of:

• A structured 4-stage effort test — two 20-second max efforts, one 3-minute effort, and one 6-minute effort — performed on studio equipment (Cycle: Zwift Trainer) or Run Test at a local track/course, both under coach supervision.

• Roughly 45–60 minutes total, including warm-up.

• Your effort data is processed through INSCYD’s software to map your VO2max, VLaMax (lactate production rate), lactate threshold, and fat/carbohydrate utilization across intensities.

What you get:

• A full written metabolic profile report.

• Personalized training zones built from your actual physiology, not age-based formulas or estimated FTP.

• A results walkthrough so you know exactly what to do with the numbers.

After checkout: our team will reach out ASAP to get your test scheduled at a time that works for you.

Sweat Testing
$230.00

A precise read on how much fluid and sodium you lose when you train, so you can stop guessing at your hydration strategy and start dialing it in.

What it consists of:

• Pilocarpine iontophoresis: mild electrical stimulation on your forearm induces localized sweating in about 5 minutes. No needles, no blood draw, not painful — it’s the same goldstandard method used in clinical sweat diagnostics.

• A sweat sample is collected via a small patch worn on your forearm, typically taking 5–20 minutes depending on your sweat rate.

• About 45 minutes total, including a full discussion of your results.

What you get :

• Your individual sodium loss rate (mg/L).

• A personalized fluid and electrolyte plan for training and race day — how much to drink and how much sodium to replace, before, during, and after effort.

After checkout: our team will reach out ASAP to get your test scheduled at a time that works for you.
